Если в Проводнике на USB-флэшке нажать правую кнопку мышки и выбрать Format…, то будет доступно два варианта — в NTFS или в exFAT. Для того, чтобы флэшку увидела PS3, мне нужен был формат FAT32. Да, тут есть ограничения на максимальный размер файла в 4GB, но зато приставка будет видеть флэшку.
Пробую отформатировать через cmd.exe:
format /FS:FAT32 E: /q
Получаю ошибку:
Insert new disk for drive E:
and press ENTER when ready…
The type of the file system is FAT32.
QuickFormatting 57,7 GB
The volume is too big for FAT32.
Format failed.
Microsoft по этому поводу отписывается так:
You cannot format a volume larger than 32 gigabytes (GB) in size using the FAT32 file system during the Windows XP installation process. Windows XP can mount and support FAT32 volumes larger than 32 GB (subject to the other limits), but you cannot create a FAT32 volume larger than 32 GB by using the Format tool during Setup. If you need to format a volume that is larger than 32 GB, use the NTFS file system to format it. Another option is to start from a Microsoft Windows 98 or Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me) Startup disk and use the Format tool included on the disk.
C помощью форматирования без ключа /q (без быстрого форматирования), проблема также не решилась:
format /FS:FAT32 E: Insert new disk for drive E: and press ENTER when ready... The type of the file system is NTFS. The new file system is FAT32. Verifying 57,7 GB The volume is too big for FAT32. Format failed.
К тому же у этого метода был ещё один минус — производится полное форматирование, поэтому, если объём диска достаточно большой, то процесс форматирования может занять очень много времени.
В этом случае пришлось воспользоваться утилитой стороннего разработчика: GUI version of fat32format.
